How much lower can the 48 go..? You might as well just put licks rigid struts on. Because any bump you hit is gonna shake the filling right outta yer teef. Stock length for the 48 shocks are 11" and them are short. If yer fat like me you will want a good set of shocks.

I ran 10" biltwel struts for about two days and then switched to 11" progressive shocks. I chopped my rear fender and really couldn't run any shorter without bottoming out. Hope this info helps.

Thanks guys for the info, maybe I'll re consider and just get a better pair of 11' shocks, but JPL did you just chop the fender or the arms that hold the fender too, and where did you get those rear turn signals? I've been lookin for a smaller pair

my 48 came with 11.5 shocks,
put on the slammers, 10.5, way better ride than stock but lossed some lean angle.

I'm getting mixed reviews, people say a better ride and some say a worse ride. I'm torn, I way around 200 pounds you still think that I'll be fine with the burlys?

No, you won't. The people that say you get a better ride aren't talking about a smoother or more comfortable ride. They just like riding a brick. You can get better shocks in the stock length, or even shorter, but there just isn't room for a "good" ride in a shock with less than two inches total travel (stock). A shorter shock equals less travel. If the shock can't move, there's no way for it to ride well. Being that you're a relatively large guy, your best bet (for a better ride) is 12.5" Progressives on a 1" lowering kit. This gives you stock ride height with a vastly improved ride.

Simply installing the 1" lowering kit will change the angle of the shock and give you a better ride.
