i attached the headlight to the mount, attached the mount to the bike, had my buddy sit on the bike and point it at my garage wall where I had marked it when it was stocked and adjusted it accordingly. Once I tightened the light to the mount, i removed the mount from the bike again to proceed with the speedo.

This setup really looks great. Will it work on a 2007?

@stonewall, i just put this on my 09 custom. It will not work w the custom's bottom mount headlight. The headlight doesn't mount up the same way as the nightster even if you turn it upside down and there isn't enough clearance to leave the headlight bottom mounted and install the bottom of the rsd speedo mount. Instead, i installed the rsd spedo mount left the bottom off and fabricated from 1/4" plexiglass a bottom that i primed and painted satin black. I attached it with the stock alle bolts that came with the speedo mount and put chrome acorn nuts to hold it on. The set up looks great. I'll post a pic later. I don't have them on my ipad.

Check out some photos Roland Sands has posted on his blog adapting this speedo relocator on a Dyna...it seems that he has made a custom bracket, bolted on the top triple tree (through the riser holes) and then the relocator is mounted on the bracket through its headlight mount hole...I guess this cannot be done on a Sportster with a 3.3 tank (no room between the triple tree and the tank) but maybe it is possible with a 4.5 tank, because of the tank's lower profile...

Found this thread on a google search and I love it. Exactly what I am trying to do.

Would love to know how far back on the wiring harness did you spice the LED indicator light in? Was there enough lead wire to splice under the tank?

Also did you have riser bushings? My custom didnt have riser bushings installed so the new risers (RSD 1.5" Chrome) are "solid-mounted" to the triple.

I'm bumping this to ask how the well the led install went on the relocation bracket, any problems? Tips? Thanks

Question about your rear shocks.
Are they the 970s (same as mine)?
If so do you have any issues with the performance of the front shocks now?
ie..if you brke quite hard just using front brake you get a juddering from the front end or is it i wonder just crappy sportster suspension
