xr1200 horsepower

I didn't want to say it, but ya when you do pipes, fueler and air filter it really helps uncork the XR. Now, if it just didn't weigh so much........

78-80 Rear wheel HP stock, maybe another 10 or so rear wheel HP with pipes/air filter/good state of tune, depending on the parts. I just bought one last week and just started doing the above to it. Have all the parts, just have not got past the mufflers yet. As for parts, really not much available in the US except for what little the HD accessory book has. Power Commander has a PCV for XR and Vance and Hines sells a K & N air filter clone. Everyone has exhausts but whose works the best is anyones guess and most of them are loud as hell. Yeah, i like HP but not at the expense of being so loud you risk getting a ticket every where you go. I just put on a set of $300 Supertrapp slip-ons running 14 discs each. Has the perfect sound for me. Subdued at idle and barks when you crank it on. Most of the good stuff comes from England or Germany and most of it is terribly expensive.

90 HP @ 7.000 rpm
73.8 ft-lbs of torque @ 3.700rpm
Note sure what it is at the rear wheel although it will obviously be less
Buell used to get slightly over 100HP out of the same power plant however the designers of the XR1200 made some sacrifices for cosmetic reasons like a much smaller airbox and more restrictive exhaust.

Moco doesn't offer much in the way of accessories. Twin motorcycles out of the netherlands has built some really nice quality parts for the xr including a nice carbon tail section. V&H has come out with a whole line of race goods for it too. A friend of mine is building all stainless exhausts for sportsters with custom mufflers. Really very nice work at a great price he's looking to do a limited run of exhausts he said only about thirty. One of the sets is on my bike high quality work all stainless with equal length headers.
We just got one 4 days ago, but were having major rain here, Any of you xr owners know of good aftermarket parts/accessories place? I see moco doesnt offer much for the xr in their book. I bought smoked lenses and Im going on my second return trip because the xr's are different than most other HD's.
