I've been running syn in my sled for 3,500 miles; it's been a tad over 2 years. I was thinking about changing it @ 5K, but at this rate it maybe 3 years till I hit 5K. Does time have an effect on oil? I've been going by miles. When i check the oil, it looks clean. Wow! the first year i got my sled - i put almost 15K on it.
any thoughts?

Even Amsoil, who generally recommend going twice the manufacturers interval on motorcycles, still recommends at least once a year.

For rule of thumb I use 5 K or 6 months for a change, but only once on the Sportster did I reach 6 months before 5K that was last winter when FL was unusually cold and didn't ride it as much when had the bagger to choose from as well .. Should be able to go a year though with good synthetic..
