Any seat that resembles the Sundowner that forms a bucket area would help. Or a stepped seat.

I think a switch back to mid controls would help even more.
With one's legs stretched out they can't be used to help keep one in the seat so the fowards are adding to the problem. Can't be comfortable if one has to work extra at staying on the bike.

I'm 5'9". Sitting on a FatBob the factory forwards make my legs have to stretch to the max. This would have to make me feel tired after a short time.

Sitting on a Softail Deluxe those forwards and seat make the bike feel very comfortable as the bike feels it was tailor made for me.

I would go back to mids and add highway pegs for the times she wants to shift her legs.

Sundowner seat, right at the Stealer when I bought it. 150 miles a day, 5 days a week.

I looked at the Sundowner when I picked mine up from the dealers as I had a Saddlesore 1000 coming up. Didn't like the plastic base pan and hated paying that kind of money for Pacific Rim products. Went with the Mustang as it was serving me well on the 1200 C.

What you just talked about is all the fun of riding a sportyster. They are not made to look or ride like a big touring bike or a big softail. There are some backrest out there, but IMO it will kill the look fo the bike.

You're right, I've only done 5 Saddlesore 1000's with my '06 R, 78,000 miles to date, been in 20 states so far, guess that ain't touring to some, but it works for this greatgrandpa. Best wishes in the coming holiday season.
