Default success, the mother f#@%$@! fit

finally got the fuel pak to fit. did a couple of things different today.

first, the battery strap has a thin about 1/4" tab that is located behind the slot where the vertical metal bar connects. the battery was hitting it trying to go in and that space is needed, if for no reason other than to get the battery started. I took the dremel tool to it and ground it down and sanded it smooth.

second, i disconnected all of the wiring harnesses under the seat from each other allowing the wires to be moved about more freely. got the fuel pak to fit then finagled the wires so they could be reconnected.

as with all things, something must go wrong. once the fuel pak was installed i was reconnecting the battery to the crankcase stud and lost the nut. a run to home depot solved that problem.

the fuel pak was very easy to program and i can already tell the difference in the bike. i've done a couple of short test rides and the bike sounds deeper, and there is a noticeable power gain. so far pleased and it seems to be worth the cash and the effort.

Hehe. Good to hear. I must say you have better luck than me. I would have returned from Home Depot with the new nut and then found the original after I put the new nut on.

Now I would lose sleep over where the lost nut is. Threads on here about lost bolts/nuts getting by the belt and jamming in there wrecking the belt.

Getting that FuelPak in does feel f#$*ing good. Way to hang in there in the face of pure frustration.
