Default Nightster Bars

Looking for some advice on bars/risers for an '08 Nightster. I have a little over 18K on the bike, stock bars/risers with a Mustang seat. I would like to bring the bars a little closer. I purchased some 2 1/2" Drag Spec pull-back risers from a local HD shop. They said they would fit. Unfortunately - not. The bars hit the tank. So, I'm looking for suggestions. Has anybody made mods to their Nightster to bring the bars a bit closer? I'm not looking to raise them all that much, just get them closer, though they will need to come up a bit to not hit the tank. I was going to try 4" pull back risers, but don't want to do another purchase, only to find that they also won't fit. Also - pullback risers will change the position of the speedo. I would like to try to keep them in the same angled position as stock. The 2 1/2" pull back riser change the speedo so that it's almost vertical. I guess I can always have new pull back risers (4", or whatever I end up with) machined so that the speedo position is essentially the same.

Or, will a different set of bars do the trick? Thanks for any advice.

Maybe try looking at some buckhorn style bars or some mini apes. They can be rolled back towards the rider some. Although the spes my require changing cables.

Fat Boy bars! That's exactly the help I'm looking for. I don't want to change the handling (which is pretty good), keep the height the same, and get them a bit closer in. Thank you! I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to check out helmets. I'll look at any Fat Boys they have on the floor and check out the bars.
