Some of you may think by looking by pics that Honda is close but in reality it isn't. They use cheaper/thinner metal on the foot mounts/pegs & more and some of our metal on that Honda is plastic. But be carefull some of those Honda's can run just as good as a Sportster. I had a Shadow and would never go back..........I also sold it for what you could buy a real nice used Sportster for also....to each there own,I hear it mainly on here and I do get asked if I am going to upgrade every once in a while. My response is this every time "The Sportster has always been my favorite bike, always wanted 1 and now I have 1 & as far as I am concerned it isn't an upgrade to go to a slower bike IMHO.......I like the other models and could have bought anyone I wanted...I bought a used Sportster and while I was there I liked the deals they had on the left over 06's,the 07's FI's had been out for a few months and winter deals. Anyway the sales guy was like are you sure you want another Sportster, your credit is good enough to buy any you want and I replied to him, what did I come in and buy? A Sportster so why not buy a new 1 and give the GF 1 for her birthday........I love my bike,I may buy a BT 1 day but it will only be to make the GF more comfy on the back. It's my money & I buy what I want.........

Sportster is an entry level bike though. It is what it is. You can hate it or like it, doesn't matter, but as far as harley davidson's go it's obviously their entry level bike. It's certainly their cheapest, and smallest. A lot of them sit very low to the ground as well. The nightster is like 24.5" or some crap.
I could have bought nearly any harley, but I wanted an entry level bike. Nothing real big. So just deal with it, you bought an entry level harley. Does it offer things bigger harleys don't? Sure does, but that doesn't make it a non-entry level bike.

I'm considiering buying my first Harley, and the Sportsters are the only bikes that appeal to me right now. I wonder if I will want to upgrade within a year. I don't think I will because I don't have time for long rides, just want to do some backroads and highways. I suppose when you get a group together, its human nature to start trying to out status each other. I think the Sportster are beautiful.
