Default Power Commander and MPG

What kind of changes are you seeing in your MPG with the installation of a Power Commander?
I am thinking about adding a PC or XiED, not as worried about performance, more worried about the MPG. Figure the increased airflow from my Rinehart slipons and SE a/c will give me a little more performance. With the 3.3 gal tank, i don't want to give up a ton of miles per tank on my '08 Nightster.

If I can stay out of the throttle I'm getting the same mileage I did before the stage1 upgrades.
My setup consists of V&H Shortshots, Arlen Ness Big Sucker, PCIII.

Got the PCV with preset map for my current setup straight from FuelMoto, no Dyno done yet. Get avg of 36+ city, on the highway it is mid to hi 40's. When the bike was stock the MPG's weren't significantly different.

I saw vastly lower MPG after adding a PC V. That is partly due to my inability to keep out of the throttle normally. However, when I ride with my wife, she gets 8-10 MPG better than I do, and we (obviously) are riding the same way at the time. Without upgrades, I was getting 50-53 MPG. I now get 35-40 when by myself, and 40-45 when with my wife.

Not that I care about MPG on a bike-for God sake it's a toy, but I can tell you this, When I did he pipes, AC and PC III on the XL50 I noticed right away that a tank does not last near as long, again I don't care, but it's a fact that it's useing more fuel.

I also noticed a big drop in MPG with the PCV, which led to its removal.

XL50,
Can I ask where your maps came from?

My mileage dropped a bit after installing the PC III and free flowing exhaust and intake. Not a drastic drop, but noticeable. It is a direct relationship to how hard I twist the throttle. But even if you drive conservatively, it only makes sense that mileage will go down. This is due to making the air fuel mixture richer. More air requires more fuel. This is why your bike runs stronger and cooler. They are set way lean from the factory. I am willing to give up some mileage for a bike that hauls ***!

if i could figure out how to keep from twisting my right wrist hard, i might be able to see better mgps!! but thats not why i have mine set up. the bike runs much better and even temps are cooler.
i have noticed on the big road that my mileage is better. thats the only place i ride "evenly". around town is just twist and go!!

Cool X14ieD,,,

My 2 cents for Us Poor riders wanting more,,,,

I'm no expert, I just could NOT justify all that money for an ECM and dyno time.
$1,000 for a proper stage one just for a single digit Increase in HP and TQ.
what 6 or 7 at best..No Thanks,
The X14ieD's I Installed really feels good. the Bike Is smoother at all RPM's
My MPG did NOT drop probably because I'm using less throttle due to the
apparent extra power which Is really just smoother power delivery.
The Biggest change on my 08 EFI 1200R was cold start ups.
Before the X14ieD I'd start It,,
get 1400 rpms,,,then 15 to 20 seconds later a single Miss,,
It would almost Kill the engine,,followed buy 30 to 45 seconds of a unsteady Idle
ranging from 1000 to 1400 RPM's.
A steady 1,000 rpm idle would be reached at about 1.5 minutes or even 2 minutes.
After the X14ieD, Imediatly after,,,WOW
Hit the starter,,,rock stable Idle at 1400 rpm's then 20 to 30 seconds later
(45 seconds on chilly mornings) I'd have me a Tach parked on 1,000 RPM's
The needle looked welded to the Tach Face.
That one nasty Miss was all Gone!
I never noticed a "Learning curve",,there may have been one but I was so
overwhelmed by my new smooth power delivery I still say my ECM figgerd
It had died and gone to Harley heavan XD

Run great before,,Runs great now,,and I can add some good sounding
slip ons without cookin the motor.
My Plugs were white,, now they got a cool copper color, Yeah 100 bucks well spent.
