Default 48 Question

Thinking of adding a 48 to the stable. i have a Fatbob and love the look of the 48. it is a bit on the short side, but i have heard good things about the scoot. The dealer said that the bike handles different because of the front tire being big or something to that effect. The FB has the same front tire and is fine. not sure if the bigger bike has nything to do with it, but just looking for some input on this bike

All I can add is that it is pretty sweet looking.

Before I test drove and purchased my 48 the salesman told me that the 48 tends to steer slow because of the fat front tire, but I found it to be just the opposite.
I suggest you find a dealer that has a 48 demo and take it for a spin. I think you'll like it.
As far as handling is concerned I wish the 48 had a more compliant suspension and more clearance for cornering, but with that said, I'm not sorry I bought mine.

The demo is not a problem. My dealer lets me take whatever i want on a short ride, except for the Thunder Mountains. I figure the clearence would be an issue. I am in Afghanistan right now and will have to wait until Feb to try one out. Thanks for the advice. like I said, the front tire does not concern me because of the FB having the same tire up front

Probably one of the most stable bikes I've ridden in quite sometime...the bike's geometry gives you solid feedback during turns...frickin' blast to ride and looks mean just sittin' still....

Everyone I talked to said they figured the fat front would cause it to handle worse than a skinny front tire. I too say the opposite. It may take a bit more body english to turn it in but due to having such a large contact patch it handles really well and very stable.

I have a 2006 Softail and decided to buy a 48 in August. I am constantly doing mods to my 48 but when I have the choice I always end up riding the 48. This bike is a blast to ride and it is a bike you can take in several different directions or just keep it stock. I would recommend it 100%--great bike, lots of fun. Good luck.

48,s are in my opinion the coolest looking HD bar none (wildthang) yours is prob the coolest 48 ive seen , that said i couldnt get on with the forwards and that silly seat , it is slower into corners than the nightster but thats more due to the layed back ride possition than the front tyre , i went for the nighty in the end in vivid black , i just felt safer on it , the 48 made me feel like i was always going to fall off .
