iron with ducati monster
#12
wtf??? your dealer is both hd and duc??? lucky bastard ;-) that's too cool and wish my dealer would be like that.
i finally went to test ride the new monster 796 today. while at it, i fell in love with the only remaining brand new 2009 sportclassic 1000s with the full cafe racer look. it was all black. the list price is $13.6k and they're willing to discount by $1500. i'm so tempted just to pick it up and put in the living room as a piece of modern art. that this sent shivers and goose bumps.
i really like the 796. tried the 696 but felt like it truly is an entry level bike that it is. went around the block with the 1100s they had as demo and that thing is really too much bike for me. i want a duc as 2nd bike for rides into the hocking hills here in ohio where it would be more fun than my iron...nothing crazy and speed is not my #1 priority but excellent handling, responsiveness and smoothness.
tried out couple triumphs as well including the very cool retro cafe racer thruxton 900. i like the triumphs for its nostalgic feeling, look, and sounds but certainly nothing compared to the awesome quality and build of the ducatis.
guess it'll be either the sportsclassic 1000s as a collector's item and once a while riding. or monster 796 that i can ride anytime. riding position are totally different with the sc 1000s leaning way forward and low, pretty uncomfortable running around and best if on the open road or track. 796 feels more comfortable and more upright riding than sc 1000s for sure.
choices...maybe take both ;-)
