Default Rush Black Slip-on Discolouring

Hi,

I have black Rush slip-ons on my 2010 Iron and they have discoloured slightly near the top end (where they attach to the head pipe) and was wondering if this is normal or due to the fact that I didn't tune the bike after I put them on. 90% of people said you don't need to tune them if you are just putting slip-ons so I didn't - maybe I should have?

Thoughts?

There are a lot of issues that can cause this. We do recommend using a properly tuned fuel management system with any exhaust or intake changes but this is not always required. If you have our 2.00" baffle or smaller and everything else is stock, especially the AC, tuning is not required but still recommended. Our black coating is a high temp powder coat. Even if the bike is running hot (lean) it should not discolor but will increase the chance for something topical to cook onto the finish. Such as overspray from cleaning/polishing products. Any petroleum based products left on hot powder coat will compromise the coating. I'm not saying this is your case, but it is a common issue.
Send some pictures of your exhaust to sales@rushracingproducts.com. They will forward it to the appropriate people here to determine the cause of the discoloring. If there is an issue with the coating, it would be covered under the warranty.

I haven't used any cleaning products on the bike - just high pressure water spray so don't think that is why its happening.

Let me send the pics tomorrow and we'll see.

So here are the pics...when I took another look it is actually worse than I thought. There is also discolouring at the back as well but I couldn't get a good pic.

Let me know what you think it could be...

Thanks

Wow...looks like bad coating, or improper pre-treatment??? I'm guessing Rush will be swapping these for you...

They'll probably swap them out for you. I'd tune the bike, though...air cleaner, PC V or something. Only way to be sure...hahaha

They coated over moisture or corrosion. That has absolutely nothing to do with tuning or any mods that you have done.
