Design Flaws Make Them "Unique"
#11
After market parts did not fit. You had to cut, burn, weld or modify to install them.
Just some of the reasons we bought Harleys.
Had to sneak my metric ride in to.

Recon Dad,
Please resize your images. It's a nice bike and all, but the camera isn't very good, and the picture is only "okay." Keeping it under 1000 pixels on the long end makes it viewable on most computers (I have a 27" monitor, and had to scroll horizontally and vertically to see all of it, and couldn't get the "big picture" as I could only see part of it at a time) and will dramatically improve the impact of the images (meaning they look better, and it'll hide flaws).

I'm not buying it. My XL50 likes to do it alot and there is no way it's at 180 when this happens since it does in like 30-45 seconds after start up. My C only has done it a few times and again it did it not too long after start up. I have even had the XL50 do it as I pull out of the drive way after running a few mins. This is just there way of saying we do not want to deal with this issue or we do not know why the bikes are doing it?

Since this happens often, 2 or 3 times during warm-up for me I also doubt that 180F is somehow the magic temperature.
Unless the, uh, thermostat on my AIR-COOLED BIKE is sticking and keeps cooling it back down over and over again for about a minute or two.
Maybe I'll dig out my laser thermometer tonight just to see the inevitable...
Whatever. I'm not going to beat a dead horse. It's too late in the season for me to deal with it now anyway. I just want to ride it, store it, and figure it out next season (probably after asking you guys a lot of stupid questions). There. I'm done bitching now.

I agree with you 100% man, but Harley is adamant that they do not see it my our way.

You may want to consider letting the stealer have it when you are ready to quit riding for the season so they can witness the fault and work on it. That's what I wound up doing with mine, I trailered it to them and they had it for about 3 weeks before it was fixed. Most guys won't bother, and if the bike is no longer stock then the stealer will claim that your mods are causing it, but mine was bone stock so they basically had no choice, the stealer agreed that there was definitely something wrong. I wrote a two page letter to MOCO, sent it on a Saturday (snail mail) and lo and behold the following Tues I get a call from MOCO and then we get the stealer on the line at the same time and hammer it out. It worked, the bike is fixed and I'm lovin' it. This was two years ago.
My bike will be in storage at HD in Blaine, though they're about the last people on earth that I trust with it right now.
