Default Vertical License Plate

I've been seeing alot of pictures showing the license plates of sportsters that are vertical vice horizontal. Is this possible with the stock mount on a 2010 Iron or does it require a kit to acheive this? I've been out there for bout an hour but can't quite seem to see how it might be done.....

Thanks!

Just turn your plate 90 degrees and bolt it back on

And keep the wing nuts on there if you can, just loctite 'em good. That way if a cop pulls you over for it, you can offer to correct it on the spot and maybe avoid the ticket.

After you rotate it you can ditch the sliding piece of the plate mount and just tuck it in close to the pivot. Make sure you don't snug it up too close or it'll rub against the pivot if you ever fold it in.

Remove the part that slides back and forth and save it for a custom project in the future, then bolt the plate on the part that is left using the slots in the plate mount.

You will only be using 2 bolts to mount the plate.

I found a smoked bubble cover that fits the plate and used that to make the plate more rigid, only I had to notch it a bit on the top right side for it to fit properly because of the hinge.
