last week noticed that my front tire was losing air. Inflated it to the usual 36 psi and it was down to 20 psi again the next morning. Then it was totally flat after work. Towed it to the shop, they put in a new tube, which went flat again the next evening. The mechanic stated that there's a microscopic something that is causing tiny holes in the tube in the same pattern both times. He is stating that he hates to replace the tire and blew out the interior of the tire and smoothed out the inside of the wheel. At this point, should I just replace the tire? Has anyone else experienced this? The tire is relatively new. Thanks for any info.
Havn't had it with the harley but i've seen this with mtbiking some tyres just cause punctures no visable sharp points and yet when you switch out the tyre it's hastles over.
Is the leak on the rim side of the tube or the tire side? Rim side, I say new liner would be in order, Tire side, you can try to lightly sand it, just take care to clean it really good.
He has sanded out the interior of the tire and checked the wheel. It's on the tire side. It stayed inflated the entire 30 mile ride home today, but just checked it and IT'S FLAT AGAIN! Guess I'll have the tire replaced...
if the holes are on the tire side of the tube, then the tire has an issue, cant he just warranty out the tire and put a new one on? i would not mess with the tire if its putting holes in the tube. change the tire, fix the problem.
