Screw those guys; the Sportster is a great bike. Even if you did wind up with the Honda or any other make I'd find other riding buddies; clearly they're jerks

I always knew that if I ever got a bike it would be a Harley! American made and proud of it!

I'm sure they're NOT jealous and probably just giving you a good ribbing. I say they're not jealous because presumably, all their bikes cost more than your Sporty. So how could they be jealous?

Are your work buddies working OT on your behalf? Are they willing to cough up for oil changes and tires? Are they coming up with a list to see who gets to wash and polish your new ride first? What vehicle did they pick out for you as your family car?
Which of them picks up your utilities monthly bill?

Ive owned a lot of bikes, Jap & European and haven't had one yet that's failed to put a smile on my face. A Honda will move your body... The Harley will move your soul.

Sportsters are Harley's. Period. End of sentence. The real issue here is them telling you you are cheap. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, tells me what to spend my money on, or how much to spend. I work for my money and no one else's. Same goes for you and everybody else. You have my permission to tell your "friends" that they are morons.

That's exactly right! And it ain't exactly a bike either!

The Fury is one of the cheapest quality made bikes I've seen in a long time. And at 663 lbs with 59 hp and 71 ft-lbs of torque.......Its a plastic slug.

Stage 1 or 2 that 48 and you'll be able to walk away from the Fury, Stage 3 that 48 and that Fury will be the 48's BITCH!!!

PS: A good stage 2 or 3 on the 48 and you'll be able to cruise with any V-twin, metric or American made. Plus you'll be able to put the most of them to shame.

[quote=tekdiver500ft;7419069]Not only is the Sportster a true Harley (I traded a Big Twin to get mine), but it is the longest-lived model of any brand in the world. Nobody else has had a single model in their line-up for 53 years. quote]

The Royal Enfield Bullet has it by two years and the Ural has been frozen in time since the 40s. But they are in their own nitch.
As to the buddies giving a guy some ribbing....whats new? They are doing what friends have been doing since Grawn picked a horse rather than a zorbon to ride like everyone else. Hell my buddies gave me some S%^& about the "girls bike, bike thats kinda like a Harley but smaller" rather than a WG, ST...whatever. That ended when we went riding, those big bikes have the comfort of a easy chair, the sportster has everything else
