me and my buddie just did his 07 1200, sounds mean, we completly removed his baffles for the drag pipe effect. sounds great. I also did it on my 06 883r but I bought 05 mufflers and took out the baffles on those and it alos sound mean. so yes it works to drill out.

Yep I am that friend of Andy883R's. I got an '07 1200C and we just took a 1 3/4" METAL cutting hole saw and drilled out the baffles in each muffler. Oh, yes we took the mufflers of the bike to do this (recommended for obvious reasons)!!! Youll probably have to remove the entire front pipe from the engine itself to get the muffler off. Really easy to do, probably took about 15-25 seconds to drill each baffle out. Taking the muffs off and putting back on and wiping down took the longest. Sounds outstanding, nice and freakin loud! Runs just fine, I get a little bit of popping every now and then, maybe one or two pops per ride. Read my other post, I replied to Drumers Vance and Hines thread.

I believ thats what they did.................. drilled them out..........or popped them out....not exactly sure what procedure they used .............but it does sound good......
It was done purposely for sound.....

Yep purely for the sound right now. We used a hole saw, the same thing you use to drill out a door handle on a wood door, but they make METAL and BI METAL cutting wood saws. Fits onto an electric drill. Some people have made "receivers" to help guide the bit, but that is over kill. Once you start drilling, it finds the welded groove and goes right through it. The baffle will break free and push up the pipe a little bit. No big deal because the baffle is significantly smaller in diameter than the pipe itself. We just grabbed an edge with a needle nose and then pulled it out. I just wrote basically this same thing in the other post, but yes I did it purely for sound. Im up here in Minnesota and only have about a month of riding until I must unfortunately put the bike away for the winter. Once again, I am only using this as a temporary solution for the sound level of the bike. Its a 1200 so a little loss in low end torque is absolutely menial at the moment to me. Before I even fire it up in the spring Ill have the stage 1 Screamin Eagle AC, some form of V&H pipes, and the V&H Fuelpak. Ill gain all that torque back plus about 6-8ft/lbs extra!!! Baffling drilling was just for my own personal satisfaction thats all. To each there own I guess. Riding brings out different feelings and emotions in all of us and we all do various things to achieve those emotions. For me, right now, I wanted the Harley sound since there isnt much I can do with aftermarket pipes. I personally think the SE's are not up to my standards in sound and performance. V&H are the way to go. Just my two cents gentleman. Ride hard.
