Uh... Sorry, but 07 XL's do NOT have a solid Catalytic Converter......
They are however coated with a Catalytic Epoxy in the resonance chamber....
Closed Loop systems such as the Delphi system don't need Solid Core Cat's until you go 103 Stage II.....

I thought someone cut open a 06 Cat pipe and there was clearly a Cat in the front pipe? Were we just seeing an "Epoxy"?
Please educate me as I'm a little confused.

I said, if you re-read my post, that the 07's dont have the cat core... 06's DO have it, on the FRONT Cylinder pipe.....

I read your post, but wasn't aware the 07's had a different cat than the one's that were used in '06. I was assuming that since HD just put the cat in there for a few of the 06 models, that they wouldn't have changed it the very next year. Oh well, you know what they say about assuming.

Yup. What he said. 07's do not have CATs, 06's do. Local dealer told me you can pull the baffles with no ill effects. He said he did it on his '06 Bob which has a o2 sensor like the '07 Sporty and said it sounds and works great. To be honest, I am not gonna do it to my bike. I'll let someone else try it first. The EFI '07 Sporties are too new so no one really knows.

Humm the 06's have a cat??!!
I replaced mine with cycle shack slips on, that I'm pretty certain don't have a cat. They don't have much of anything in there, just a small baffle. They're not "straight pipes" but they're so close to it, you can read a newspaper through them. Only performance results I had from that upgrade were positive.
Maybe it was just the 06 California models that have a cat?
Dunno, I still have the originals, I'll look afterwhile, and see what I can see in there.
