Default Rear shock adjustment

I'm sure there is a post on this but couldn't find one. I'm adding a 2-up seat and pegs to my nightster, wondering which notch on the shocks people typically adjust to for 2-up riding or if there is a weight guide. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately your in for a rough ride even if you crank them all the way up. Your bike just doesn't have enough travel in the suspension. A set of RK (new or used) shocks will fix the problem though.

agree- change the shocks and make the new ones a bit longer than stock. i love my works shocks. can easily adjust them with my hands- no tools needed.
works and progressives would be my first choice on our bikes. rk used air shocks are another choice, but i love my works!

Well to answer the OP's question, with a combined(me and the girl) weight of about 240lbs. I usually have my stock shocks set on the 3rd or 4th setting.

Get the RK, there are several on eBay right now and they go for less than the other brands used.

Oh and typically the top spot is for around 400 lbs.

Thanks for answering my question. I like the ride I've got now, not looking for new shocks.
