Curious about this kit. Anyone know the goods and the bads of doing this?

Also, anyone know of any good indy shops in Los Angeles.

I know a guy in Long Beach. A friend refered me to him. From what I've gathered he used to build race engines and has like 30 years of experience. Now he runs a shop out of his home garage. Sounds sketchy at first, but his shop is actually set up quite nice.
