Pretty sure I got an awesome deal on Sportster Nightster...
I bought a 2009 Sportster Nightster XL 1200N last week. Well, actually I traded my 1998 Wrangler for it. The bike only had 70 miles. It is the orange and black model. It is in showroom condition and I had it titled and it was all clear, etc.
The seller and I agreed on $8,100 (down from $8,600). So he gave me $6,800 for my Jeep plus $1,300 cash. I thought it was a really good deal and I negotiated well. It was a win-win deal. Also, it was considered a trade so I didn't have to pay the $600 NJ sales tax. Double win for me.
I went to my Harley dealership and they have the same bike, with 4,500 miles on it for $9,795!!!!!! Check out that one here. I was like, WHOA! I got a GREAT deal. It is worth about $11,000.
Am I mistaken? Did I get a great deal?!!?!!? <drooling>
What value would you put on it?
Thanks!

First I want to say welcome to Hdforums and the Nightster is a really fun bike. I think you got a great deal considering the age of the jeep. You never told us if it had any extras on it such as exhaust or air cleaner. Now get to lookin at threads on here about mods and get some ideas and make it your own. That is half the fun!

No, no mods on the bike. Yet. LOL I do want to ride as much as I can in the next month or so so I can get 1,000 miles on it to bring it in and get it serviced, etc.
Do want new pipes, handle bars, etc, but I need to ride it first and feel it out. It's my first bike so I am enjoying the process. I am on youtube all the time now looking at other Nightsters. LOL Yeah, reel me in- I am hooked.

Thanks. I love the vintage look of it. I get my license tomorrow and plates, etc. It is raining in NJ right now but can't wait to take her out.
I took the Rider's Edge Safety Course at my local HD dealer. Best $425 I ever spent. 24 hours total instruction (16 of that on bikes and actually learning to RIDE!). Only 5 people in my class. We all passed the road test and graduated. Awesome instructor who made sure we all were "getting it" and could perform the required tests.
We rode the Buell 500ccs. Actually they were fun bikes! I wouldn't mind having one to run around town in.
