Default Need some good advice!!!

Whats up guys, I been looking forward to buy an iron 883, so went to the dealer and gave them a $500dlls deposit, they dont have any on stock, so I'll have to wait for mine to be delivered. The sales manager showed me some numbers and I think there a little bit high, with $1k down the payments for 72 were $188 or if I want the ext. warranty it went up to 210, the price for the bike is $8465 w/security system plus CA tax, lic, shipping and put together fee, so it went all the way to $9,900 aprox.
What do you guys recommend me to do, or what can I negociated here.
Thanks

If money's an issue, buy used.

And I'm not entirely sure why you put down a deposit without actually making a decision.

Yep, I think you missed out on the window of opportunity for negotiating, should have done that BEFORE you put your deposit in their hands.

Uh, pay what you agreed to since you already put down the deposit towards the bike that they now have to bring in for you. Always negotiate BEFORE you give them anything (signature, money, etc). Too little, too late.

Now if you even try to ask for anything, they'll just say no. They know you're going to give in to what you already agreed to, otherwise they get a free $500.

The guy told me that he will give me the real number at the moment we sign the papers, otherwise if I don't like'em, he'll give me back the deposit (its on paper)

They already have your money. What do you expect to negotiate here? You aren't getting a lower price, I can almost guarantee that. You might be able to push for accessories, but I doubt they'll even entertain that idea.

As for the deposit, well, if you can afford to comfortably put more down, then do it. It'll lower your interest rates by a considerable amount. Also, I hope you don't plan on just making the minimum payment for 72 months. Pay it off as quick as possible so they don't have a lean on your bike. Then you can work out how you want to insure it. As of now, you probably need full coverage (unless it's different here in Canada), which I would recommend anyway, but you might not want it.

So, again, what would you like to get out of this?

That doesn't sound like much of a deposit to me. Most deposits I've ever seen were forfeited if you back out. That's the point of a deposit.

But if you're under no obligation or penalty, then push for whatever you want.

Again...what do you want?

I think it would be nice if they just could waived the delivery and put together fee, I would be saving about 700 bucks.

Whats a good APR for a 700+???
