Default 08 Nightster wouldnt start

well tried to go to work this morning and when i hit the start button...nothing. think there is something wrong with ignition switch. I noticed a couple times in last few rides that the first time i would hit it wouldnt do anything, but second time did. Considering i know nothing electrical probably have to take it in? Unless this is common and there is an easy fix. I know my battery is good, checked the charge just to make sure. Also i noticed a little sticking with my key when taking it in and out, but dont think its related. All lights come on ect, you hear the fuel pump, just no spark. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Just resolved my Nightster starting issue. Symptoms were exactly the same, solution. change the battery of your remote detector (whatever that black thing is, normally hanging with keys). Mine is 2008 so it seems the battery lasts for 2 years.

Issue solved, and Nightster is willing to ride with me

I would pulll your 2 relays out and check them for corrosion. I had same problem, changed my fob battery and still nothing. the relays go bad when you get water down the fuse block. I always carry an extra one now.

Nvm I get battery in my keychain thing. I don't have a audible alarm, but my lights flash. But not usually when key is in it. Come to think of it, they were flashing this morning when I tried to start it. Can't wait to get off work and check!!!

Yep, sounds like your FOB battery is dead

if you put the bike upright while having the key fob and the sig lights flash then change the fob battery...also check the other set (key fob) if you got one, i got 2 when i bought my bike, but both batteries died by the same time...

...to prevent corrosion in electrical connectors use some dielectric grease
