They are wide. Who knows, doesn't matter. I dig the look of the Burly 16" narrows, thinking maybe with all the black on my bike they might actually look good in chrome. What'ya think?

Went back and forth on chrome vs. black myself and settled on the black. Each his own. Seen lots of good looking bikes with a mix of black and chrome rather than all blacked out or being a chrome goddess.

It sounds like alot of people like the comfort of the seat over factory after all. The price still is rediculous though. If it was closer to $300 I think it would be more on point but $500 for an assembly line seat is outragous.

I really wish HD would offer an aftermarket seat for the sporty like the distressed leather seat available for the dyna. There was a fat bob at the dealership with that seat and I absolutely fell in love with it. If they begin to offer that seat for an XL I would immediatelly buy one for both of our bikes.

By the way, the HD mini apes definetelly are not a 12" rise. Which is why I like them so much. I think 14"-16" apes are out of proportion to a sporty. You almost need an extreme tank lift to make the bigger bars look at home on the bike.

The HD Spring Seats are Outrageous that's why I did it myself and only spent $50. You can get a better seat on Ebay for around $150 or so but mine works the same looks good and was only $30 I got both the coils and springs for my seat and can change them out anytime no drilling or mods!

I just set it on top of a 883 low seat and sat on it so it may not have been a totally accurate representation, but I have PM'd a few users that have the seat and the feedback I received was that you take a sacrifice in comfort for the look. Everyone is different though so I am sure there are exceptions, but based on the research I did on the seat I had to take a pass on it. Damn it looks cool though.
Galv I really like the Iron's seat and Nightster's seat they are really comfy but....the stock seat on the 48 is way to flat and offers almost no support whatsoever. If you get on the gas hard you slide back off the seat...a little unnerving for me. I am 6' and the stock seat on the 48 was too close to the tank for me. The spring seat moves me back some and the foam in the seat feels almost like gel ( to me anyway ). I also weigh 230 LB's yes I am a larger fella, so the springs under the seat feel absolutely great again ( for me ).

I thought about getting a nightster seat but it really didnt fit with the look of the 48 in my opinion. Just sayin...

Hey guys - 2 questions

1) I went to buy the spring seat from the stealer and it works with "up to 2007" does not fit 2008 (my scoot) and 2009 but then works again on 2010 - what`s up with that ? If anyone has an 08 can you tell me where you got it.

2) Do you have to hide/cover/relocate the ECU under the seat - would`nt it be exposed to the elements ?

love my stock 48 seat,
the problem with comfort is the shocks not the seat,
spend the big $$$ seat money on new shocks !!!

HD makes mini-apes with 8.75" rise, 10" rise, and with 12" rise, depending on application and year.

I just installed the springer seat on my 48 last night as well and while I havent gotten the chance to put some miles on it it definately seems better than the stocker. The kit comes with the vinyl-like piece that covers the ECM. I picked up some extra velcro to make it fit/seal a little better.
