I loved mine. I bought it in Vegas and it had a shade over 1200 miles on it. I got lost in Vegas and rode it through the ghetto until I found Fremont St. Rode it all the way up the strip to the MGM. It was like a religious experience. Parked it there and ran into some of the Green Machine. Even those guys were giving me compliments on it. It is a 2006 Limited. Sold it for book about three months ago. The red bike in the pics is a GSXR 600/750 frankenbike that I built personally from the ground up. 750 FI with PC, race filter, pipe, etc., on a 600 frame. Cheaper insurance and fast as hell. LOL. Here's better shots.

If you look close at the pipe you can tell it's freshly painted. That's because some of the po-po around here will stop and check your pipes if they don't look stock. The exterior was completely stock, the insides........well......it just ran better. These pics are the day I sold her.

Sportbikes are stolen alot more frequently than Harleys. The most stolen bikes are the top-of-the-line CBRs, GSX-Rs, Ninjas and Yamaha R-series. Also sportbikes are crashed much more often than cruisers. All this contributes to insane insurance quotes on sportbikes.

Yup. And when I insured mine I found that the quotes I got from company to company varied greatly. SF was $400, GIECO was $1000 and Progressive was over $1500. When I was younger and got a couple quotes for ***** and giggles I was quoted $3500-$4000 for a 600cc!! Thats basically "we dont want to insure you, so were going to give you an insaine quote". I am 28 with no tickets.

Yeah, when I went to insure the GSXR through my previous insurer (American Family) they gave me some retarded quote like $2500/yr. The whole bike is barely worth that. That one "screw you" quote ended up costing them 3 cars, a house, and 2 bikes because I took all of my business over to State Farm.

Insurace also depends on where live..state, living in the city...I paid less than 300 year on my CBR600F3 when I bought it new...full coverage......and I didnt have a Motocycle licenes....

Also depends on when you buy it. If there are a rash of MC thefts in your area, your insurance will skyrocket. Or at the very beginning of the season or the very end. Stats say there are more crashes during these two periods.

Just for fun I looked up some 1/4 mile times for various H-D's as well as some metric cruisers and here's what I found:

Motorcyclist Magazine
2007 CVO Dyna 1800cc, 679lbs, 89.4hp, 1/4 mile ET 12.31
2009 V-ROD Muscle 1250cc, 644lbs, 105.1hp, 1/4 mile ET 11.86
2009 Victory Hammer S 1731cc, 664lbs, 84.9hp, 1/4 mile ET 12.03
2009 Suzuki M-109 1783cc, 747lbs, 106.8hp, 1/4 mile ET 11.91

Cycle World Magazine
2010 Iron 883, 550lbs, 44.5hp, 1/4 mile ET 14.71
2010 XR-1200, 561lbs, 83.6hp, 1/4 mile ET 12.63
2010 Dyna Wide Glide 1584cc, 643lbs, 63.3hp, 1/4 mile ET 13.31
2010 Honda Fury 1312cc, 653lbs, 56hp, 1/4 mile ET 13.71
2009 Yamaha Star Raider S 1854cc, 719lbs, 85.9hp, 1/4 mile ET 12.34

2007 Sportster XL1200R Roadster, 58.3hp, 1/4 mile ET 13.20

These are just the most current road test reviews I found. Still looking for a complete test/review of the 48 or nightster. Cycle world had a first ride review of the 48. No 1/4 mile time but it dynoed at 61hp

why doesn't harley come out with a more bitchn stock engine or shave some weight here and there.

i'll stop my gripe, and no i don't want to "just change to a crotch rocket"
Hey dude, I feel for you but you don't know how much effort it took that guy to get his bike to that stage.

CB's have always been fast and even stock, with port and polish they can burn. Remember 4 cyl, higher RPM's!?! Honda didn't make them like that, my friends did, and man were they fast, smok’in tires till you decided to get off the throttle and then they just lept away. My 550 was good enough as I'm not a speed demon.

All in all, love your bike, make it what YOU want and let the jet jockeys crash and burn, believe me thy do, some of my friends are on the list.

Be cool and no fool.
