I bet you are right... he probably doesn't really own a Harley. He probably doesn't own a Buell 1125R either.

Not always! 9.5 et @ 140+mph 37,000 , pretty cost effective actually as far as making a v-twin run fast and be street legal.

$37,000 is cost effective to run a 9.5? I guess that's relative to how deep your check book is. Mine sure isn't that deep.

I don't think that guys are putting mods on their bikes to compete with the japs. I'm sure you've been to car shows where guys take a 68 Roo, put blowers, different rear ends, bigger cams etc. into their rides. Why? Power, sure. Mostly sounds and looks cool. If someone roles up in their 599 GTO Ferrari, does the guy in his Camaro think he can take him? He's an idiot if he does. Personally, I think a 68 Roo is a much more beatiful machine even though it's not the fastest ride out there.

wtf, how does a bike with a little over half the displacement absolutely torch what i thought was a pretty quick sporty?

why doesn't harley come out with a more bitchn stock engine or shave some weight here and there.

i'll stop my gripe, and no i don't want to "just change to a crotch rocket"
Someday when you get a touring series Harley you will appriciate the fact that they aren't fast. The only reason why Harley folks performance enhance their rides is to be faster than other Harleys. lol

Have you tried to get a v-twin to run a 9.5 quarter? You can go down many paths to get there before you find the right one. To be able to buy one with out all the trial and ERROR involved in doing it for 37,000 is a real good deal. Just because someone doesn't have the money to do it doesn't make it non-cost effective.

I'm pretty sure not having the money automatically makes it not cost effective.

Cost effective 9.5 ET Harley v-twin is an oxymoron. Cost effective 9.5 ET Hayabusa... there's a concept that doesn't hurt my brain.

None of it's particularly relevant to me though since I have no desire to run a 9.5 nor do I have any complaints about how my bike runs. Guess I should back away from the keyboard at this point.

I'm always amazed at the amount of cash people blow on cams heads, pipes, tuners, dynos all to get a few more HP's ... for what anyway.

Reminds me of High School. Yeah I was the poorest kid in town...drove a dirty old 63 4 door chevrolet and a 67 Honda CB450. Everyone else was enhancing their mustangs, camaro's, GTO's with chrome wheels, Holley 4 barrell carbs, Eldebrok manifolds, Crane Cams. I wonder if those guys got laid more than me? hmmmm.
