Default 883R sportster front/rear lower kit

I was wondering if anybody has used the front and rear kit from harley to lower their sportster 883R. If so what is your opinion of it? I was thinking about getting a 07 883R but it is a little to high for my tastes and as I was looking through the customizer on the harley website they have the front and rear kits but I was wondering if it is just cut off shocks or do they compress the existing equipment? Also if anybody has done this to a 883R what has been your experience with the change? Does it bottom out in pot holes or are the shocks stiffer? Thanks for any info or opinions on the matter. I heard that progressive does this after market but I wanted to get it when I bought it so I could finance it with the bike.
