Default 2 into 1s

I am thinking about 2-1 for my 08 nightster. V&H blackout. I like the look. but seems like it could get your leg hot? And the V&H compition pipe. seems loud??? And a thunderheader. I like the sound. just really am not crazy about the look. looking for info good and bad.

The competition series is actually not loud at all. I just put this pipe on my nightster 2 days ago, and I was shocked at how quiet it is. I mean it isn't Screamin Eagle muffler quiet, but compared to the V&H sideshots that I had on it is way quieter. It has a ton of packing around the baffle that muffles the sound, and gives it a super deep tone without the barking like the sideshots/shortshots have. The only thing I could think to compare my bikes new sound to would be a Ducati or a Buell. My buddy actually told me he thought I was on a Ducati when I pulled up. It gives the bike a super smooth sport bike sound as apposed to the snappy, crackly dragster sound.

Just for kicks and giggles I took the baffle out, because V&H has a tune to run it with out the baffle and it was super obnoxiously loud. Way louder than any of the other 8 exhaust set ups I had. So its pretty cool to know that I can have it be quieter or louder pretty easily.

A lot of guys I ride with have thunderheaders and that pipe is way louder than my competition series pipe is, and I am with you on it being butt ugly. I think the competition series is the best looking 2 into 1 especially on the N models.

I was looking at the Blackout too, but ultimately decided on a Supertrapp 2-into-1. Just ordered it.

Yes I am running a fuelpak. I have had the fuelpak for 6 different exhaust set ups now and have always been more than happy with how their supplied maps work. I put the bike on the dyno back when I had rush slip-ons, SE stage 1 with the fuelpak and was very impressed with the results. 79HP and 78 TQ with very good air fuel ratios through the entire power band. If you are looking for simplicity, low price, and plug and play I don't think you can beat the fuelpak. I am not big on the power commanders, as most use the feature to eliminate the o2 sensors and the afrs are all over the place on the dyno charts.
