smoke lenses on a nightster
Hello, I just recently bought a smoke lense kit for my nightster. It had only amber bulbs, but I was planning on buying some red ones for the back. I like the look of the smoke lense, but I am also concerned about saftey. I tried LED bulbs and I dont like the look of them and they flash faster (I dont want to add a equilizer). I found some really good red bulbs made by Kuryakyn. They are Iridium Coated red so they wont flake or turn pink. My question is are smoke lenses ok for tail lights/brake lights as far as visibility in day/night. Also have any of you tried these Kuryakyn bulbs and are they worth the money? Thanks!

I think the rear smoked lenses are up for debate on safety. I thought about it until I heard of a guy that got rear ended and died on his bike. Would it make a difference who knows, but I'm sticking with what I got until I see in person that LED with smoked is brighter. Not saying anybody lies on here, but it is a safety concern of mine.

I have LED's from Autozone in the rear turn signals of both bikes and they do not flash fast. They did for the first few times, but then back to normal. I would use the LED's as they are very bright red and react fast when you hit the brakes. I feel the clear/smoked lenses will be safe as long as you have a good bulb in there like an LED or very red bulb. Yeah Kury stuff is not all that great and I'm sure you will pay big bucks for thoes bulbs.

I made some vids of my Nightster with smoked lenses and LEDs, judge for yourself how bright they are:
