Default Confusion has set in...

First off Hello all, first time poster.

Picked up a 2010 Iron back in February(first "Real" bike had a Buell Blast prior) and just ordered the Rush slipons w/2" baffles and SE Stage 1 Intake and while reviewing info for installation prior to their arrival more and more questions are popping up.

Is the download from Harley really that bad? Why do so few people go with it and instead get a performance tuner?

If I picked up the FuelPak would I just be able to install, enter the values, and ride with no need to dyno?

I know these kinds of questions come up quite often but the more threads I read and mechanics I talk to the more confused I become and just don't wanna risk my engine...

That being said, I'm loving the Iron and have plans for Joker speedo relocation kit and a T-Bar w/6" rise in the near future, the NRHS 1250 kit will have to wait till the warranty is up.

never got the dealer download myself but i think you answered you're own question.

If it were a risk on the motor i don't think the dealer would even offer it.

Default I have the power commander iii

It's worked great. Check out the site. You can download the program that is right for the parts you install, or get it dyno tuned to really dial it in... Thats what i did. 80 hp, 72 lbs torque. It gets costly real quick. I'm looking into installing a supercharger kit next.... $$$
