fabricating exhaust baffle.

fabricating exhaust baffle.
Hello to all.Having tryed a few slip-on mufflers on my 05-1200custom they all have been to loud.I was looking for something just slightly louder then stock With the performance gains you get with an aftermarket exhaust.I am now thinking about removing the stock baffle (I like the look of the stock pipe).doubleing its lenght, maybe increaseing its diameter to the next size tube, and add the additional holes to the extra length, same size holes as stock. My best guess is that I will gain the performance from the extra baffle holes and since the diameter of them and the tube size will be allmost stock it should not be to much louder. If anyone has tryed this, please let me know how you made out. Thanks again, tom

RE: fabricating exhaust baffle.
I doubt you're going to find anyone who has gone to that much trouble making a new baffle. It would be worth the effort, if for nothing more than to report what you discover. If you decide to give it a try, make it so you can easily remove/install. That way it'd be easy to add more holes, shorten it, or otherwise modify it, and reinstall it.
I'm interested in what your results are, if you decide to have a go at it.
