Thanks Joebotics :)
Now I know you didn't invent it,
and I know you are probably not the first person to suggest using it,
and I'm pretty sure that given the right circumstances I might have possibly come across this on my own,
but heat shrinking tape is AWESOME...
So thanks,
Oh and thank you and all the other members for all the great write ups and advice...you've made life a lot more pleasant...

4 months ago, I bought a tank lift kit for my fatbob...it cost me 40usd plus shipping, which was about 30...
today, I went to the Baud (Geneva's much smaller version of Home Depot...MUCH smaller) and started looking for what I could use to lift the tank...they had the u bolt thing you mentioned, but it didn't come with the metal bar, just the U, so I told him what I needed and we ended up using a 90 degree L shaped thing that fits in the corner of a box or something...he then cut it for me, so that I now had 2 pieces, and there was already holes in it, but I had to make the holes bigger...asked him for a thing like rubber that you heat up and it shrinks and he pointed me in the right direction...got some long screws and bolts and washers, and rode home.
That's when I found out that I couldn't use the long screws because
a) they were a little short, and
b) I couldn't use a long bolt on top because of the frame...so I went back, and got smaller screws and now my tank is lifted about 2" for a grand total (including the mistake) of about 5usd...
It's true that it's the little things that count
