how long should the choke be pulled out while warming the bike up?
we have a 2004 1200 custom and I just did the 5000 service, I had to change the spark plugs because they did not look right!
I think it's because my girlfriend keeps the choke out for longer than she is suppose too.
the thing is that here in NJ it is around 75 degree. and when you turn the bike on, and pull the choke out and wait a minute and push the choke back in, the bike shuts off.
I turned the bike on and pulled the choke out for one minute. then pushed the choke in half way for another minute. after that I pushed the choke in all the way and the bike idles real rough sometimes it shuts off. I can not even pull on the throttle because it shuts off.
once it is warmed up it is OK (10 min later)
what are we doing wrong?

Ya I do the same thing, I have an 04 1200R. Pull the choke out all the way to start it give it a few revs while you push the choke back in. Usually by doing this the choke is in and the bike is idling fine after a minute or so. This works for me might be worth givin it a shot. Good luck man

Are you running a stock carb or a high performance carb?
I have an S&S Super E Carb on my bike, so I only use the enricher to start. After start-up, I advance the throttle while retarding the enricher and warm up with throttle so as not to foul the plugs from running too rich.
