Default To remove the baffles or not to remove the baffles that is my question.

Hey guys, I got a question. I have Rush slip ons on my 09 XL1200C and so far they have been pretty nice, definate improvement over stock but now I am wanting to remove the baffles to get a better sound. This is the question, without a fuel management system would this be harmful to the bike? I don't want to do anything to hurt the bike but I am not wanting to put on a fuel management system until I upgrade so Samson Street sweepers or V&H straight shots, but I would like a better sound in the mean time.

I can tell you this. I had the SE slip on's on the XL50 and removed the baffles and it was super loud and did not sound all that great besides on idle, it did lose low end TQ. See Slip on's are so much bigger then say a Short shot so it just gets a nasty sound to it. I now have Martin Bros 2 down pipes on my XL50 and I took the baffles out of them and it sounds sweet, but lost 5 lbs of TQ and gained 3 hp from when they had the baffles in them, but my bike is tuned for them that way with my PC III on a dyno. I mean you can remove them and see how it runs and sounds and go from there, it' skist one or two bolts. The bike will run lean, but how lean I don't know?

Don't remove the baffles, you'll regret it. It'll hurt your performance in the bottom end and sound terrible. It won't hurt the motor, though, unless you add an A/C.
