The master cylinder cap said to use DOT5, so I did. It's OK to change it from DOT5 to DOT4 with no problems? I won't have to change out any seals or what nots? DOT5 is mad expensive. I would much rather use DOT4 to be truthful. I guess all I can do now is hope there is no internal corrosion and maybe try and bleed more air out.

You can change to dot 4, but need to get ALL the dot 5 out.
Not sure you can do that without taking everything apart.

Dot 4 tends to eat paint, which is likely why Harley used it.

I suppose I will just stick with the DOT5 since I just bought a quart of it. Seems like more of a hassle than it's worth for me to switch to DOT4. That said, I will try to bleed them again and see what I get.

Is it normal for the brakes to drag against the disc a little bit? I noticed at low speeds I can hear the pads dragging on the disc. Since bleeding the brakes, the noise is a bit louder. Is that normal?

I only have a single caliper and it takes forever. Keep at it.

There are no springs to retract the piston so the pads rub slightly. This is how disc brakes work. It's not a problem and has a couple of advantages (like continual adjustment).

Thanks, kind of figured that but wanted to be sure. I will play around with them a bit.

My front brake on my 01 been like that forever, but the good part is the lever has never made contact with the grip. Me thinks a rebuild kit might help the feel??
