hey guys and gals, i'm new to the whole hd-forums thing, so if i mess this up forgive me. but my buddy is looking to get a 96 883. its got a little over 10,000 miles on it, comes with stock pipes and 2 sets of aftermarket (drag and 2 into 1), and a windshield. its lady driven and garage kept, and she only wants 4600 for it. does this sound good? i don't have any pics but i have seen some of the bike and it looks pretty sharp. we're gonna go look at it this weekend and ride/check it out. is there anything in particular that we should look for? thanks in advance, wanna
I'd check the NADA for a value, then look for scuffs at the ends of the mirrors, levers, grips, turn signals, etc to see if it's been dropped. Look for any leaks, check the fluids and the normal stuff.
I'd also check her owner's manual to see if she was getting the techs to sign it after each service, or at least be able to produce receipts for the services. You'll want to ensure that it has been taken care of.
thanks for the advice guys. i'm gonna definitely ask where/when/who serviced the bike when we go look at it. from the pictures it doesn't look like any scuffs or scratches on the bars/mirrors/shocks etc. but thanks guys, wanna
Yea check it for Drop features. Bikes that have been dropped are pieces of SH IT usually. And if it aint been serviced by the Techs at the Dealership Run!
