Default Removing Fork Guards (Nightster)

How easy is it to remove those ridiculous motocross style fork guards on a Nightster?

I saw this and it looked so much better:

They are rubber so if you never want them on again just cut them off. Just don't scrach the forks.

Probably will do that then, just didn't want to leave any mount points behind if cutting them off would do that. I really hate the look of the boots on a street bike, but otherwise, like the bike in especially in the new Green that will be out in Jan as a limited color..

simple, remove brake caliper (two bolts), loosen fork tube bolts on triple tree (4 T40 torx screws), remove fork tubes, remove gaitors, reassemble

shouldn't take more than 20 min

or you can cut'm

I like the black look so I kept the guards and made the upper forks match the black!

gaiters are awesome looking and they keep those fork seals good and clean.

but if you're just buying the bike too look cool and you're likely to sell it when you're sick of wearing those clothes, it wont matter cause you probably wont put any miles on those fork seals anyway.

Bar none, the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard.

Look cool? Why does anyone mod their rides? Because they like the look a different way. Different colors, powder coating, headlight mods. It's how we make the bike look the way we like. Nothing wrong with personalizing a ride to look the way you like. Some people didn't like the headlight on the Nightster, and they changed it, and so on and so forth.

I don't like the way a bike looks with gators, some do, and I have seen my other bike (FXDB) modded to add them. To each his own.

On a side note, I have been riding for 15 years, all bikes "gaiterless" and have not had an issue and have thousands of miles on each of my rides (one I have had for 10 years and haven't sold it to address your not riding and selling assumption).
