Saw gaiters on street bikes before I saw 'em on dirt bikes. But this was back in the late '50s. The Sporty predecessor, the "K" model had 'em. And the Sportster used to come stock with them as late as 1970, IIRC. So, like 'em or not, they are old school.

I wouldn't worry about the gaiters if your ridding the Nightster with that green helmet....LOL
