Default Lowering a 2005 XL1200C

My ex-GF just got a 2005 XL 1200C and I am helping here with it.. She is 5'1" and needs it lowered more than it already is.. (Already has progressives). I was thinking about the Burley lowering kit. But The ones I am seeing say they don't fit an XL1200 Custom..

Anybody have any thoughts on this?:?

What length are the rear shocks? Progressive also makes lowered front springs. Or you could go my route, I used the front end from a Nightster. But my bike was totaled (nose first into a Ram) when I got it.

Cheaper things to try,,,"Low Profile" seat,,,,or boots with a bit more heel height,,,,Low profile rear tire,,,
Or a combination,,
If she only needs an Inch or two,,,

The reason why they don't fit the C models is because the shock body will come in contact with the strut cover. They'll work with a small spacer at each mounting point. 3/8" or so.

Don't know.. But someone will... They stick out a bunch. But don't think she is ready to change to something else yet. Have to change the handlebars, and put in an EZ clutch and lower (more) before we see if she can live with those pipes.. (Kinda of look like Sampsons)

I measured the Progressives. and they are 12" top to bottom.. I think I can change out to 11" ones..

I searched all over those pipes for some markings. but none. However I will tell you they are very well made and sound Bad ***..!!!

UPdate... The Progressives are the 11" ones.. I was measuring wrong... Going to lower the ft. forks with a kit.. Anyone using the Mustang solo seat? Are they narrower in the ft. than the stock or bandlander style seats.???

If you don't need to lower the frontend more than about an inch or so, you can just loosen up the triple tree pinch bolts and slide the tubes up in the trees.

And seeing you're in FL, you should check out the HDF FL Crew section here and consider joining us at our annual Ocala Rally.

Ha.. Already ordered the ft. fork lowering kit, the Mustang solo reach seat, and a Dakota digital speedo/tac etc. gage to replace the original setup.. New rear fender chrome cover struts. etc from Ronnie @ Lewis Custom Cycles.. Saved me a ton of money..

Got the EZ Clutch installed.. Easy.. Is better but I am unhappy with the cable itself.. Lubed it up but probably will need to replace it when I change the handlebars out anyway..

Waiting on parts now...

In answer to a previous question, I think the pipes are Pythons...

I am on call for TowBoat US most of the time so have garage time in between calls. A bit slow down here now so I have time to work on the boats or bikes..!!!..
