Default '95 wheels on an '06?

Is there a way to use the aluminum wheels from a '95 883 on an '06 custom? Can I just change bearings and axle? Thanks.

They'll have the tapered style 3/4" ID bearings. You can't put your 06 style bearings in the older wheel because the OD of the 06 bearing is larger and if you machine the wheel for the newer sealed bearing OD you will lose the flange that your brake rotors and pulley center on.

I've heard of a sealed bearing for the older style wheels that replaces the messy tapered bearings but have not seen one and I don't know if you can get them in a different ID.

You can get a 3/4 rear axle from a 04. That is the only year the newer style swing arm (rubber mounts), as in 08 it went to 25mm.
As for the front, you could score a set of tubes/sliders/caliper with the axle and use that.
Seems like a lot of work for rims. Maybe you can sell or trade them for the newer model of the same style?

That's really not a bad idea. You'll need step down bushings for the rear axle adjusters and if you get a front axle you can probably get away with using the stock sliders but with a similar step down bushing for the left tube and weld one to the axle so the right tube can cinch it tight...if that makes sense.

Sounds like a lot of work. My buddy has some spare parts lying around from an old Sporty... just wondered if I could make anything work. Thanks for the input.
