ff helmet security
It's much easier with a FF than a 1/2 helmet. I pop the RS-1 face shield off (it's the Transitions photochromatic and expensive) and stick it in the saddlebag. I put the helmet over the sissy bar and run a cable lock through the face opening and then through the sleeve of my mesh armored jacket. That way everything is secure and I don't have to carry anything with me.

Going into the HD dealership yesterday they had 5 bikes on the showroom floor however a good 75% of the showroom flow was devoted to shirts, jeans, fashion jackets and other trinkets. Everyone in the store was shopping for clothes. Just because I ride a HD I refuse to become a biker fashion statement. Half the HD leather jackets they had were not even made out of competition grade leather or have venting and armor! I dress for function not style. Arai FF helmet and good quality Olympia 4 season textile gear, armored gloves and touring boots.

funny thing ... i recently saw a posting on youtube with a guy perched on an iron and wearing a full-face helmet as well. couldn't believe the crappy postings by people about it. i say f&%k 'em. much rather keep my noodle in one piece than try to please the posers. are they here to ride or compare shiny half-shell helmets ... c'mon.
btw, i'm glad to hear the iron is a real winner with first time riders. i just put in an order for a 2012. it too, will be my first set of wheels. taking the course only two weeks before it delivers ... crazy stoked!

Another member just posted this:

Would have been a bad, bad thing to have a half helmet (or a non-DOT pretend helmet) on for that one....

Congratulations! After you get your license, take it easy at first and practice what you have learned. Welcome to the Harley family!
