          Actually, it is.
It is, by definition, sacrificing a little freedom to gain a little safety.

It just happens that its a LOGICAL sacrifice of freedom.

Personally, I dont agree with helmet laws because I dont think the state should be telling me what I should be doing.
I am an adult and I am responsible for my own actions.

But I wear a FF helmet 99.9% of the time because I like to be a LIVING adult.

          Define a "little safety"? LOL.

Same issue with seat belts? Ride on your own property, have all the freedom you want. Problem is insurance still pays for your lack of logic.

Do you ride in full race leathers and gear every time? No? Problem is insurance still pays for your lack of logic.

First the term "real" is a joke. If you're licensed and riding an HD, you're a "real" HD rider.

It just so happens you need to comply to ride/drive on the roads with registration and insurance and the single most important safety device for a car (seatbelt) and motorcycle (helmet) just happen to be the two personal safety devices mandated. It isn't a question of freedom.

Still can't admit a FF is a superior choice?
I believe, in the post you quoted I said the same thing as you, that if you own an HD you're a real HD rider, its not whether you live the lifestyle. However my assessment is not wrong. I am not a light rider. I put almost 7000 miles on my Honda in the first year which was also my first year of riding. I also took more notice while driving in the cage as well. The majority of cruiser riders in NJ/PA (since that is where I do my riding) do not wear full face helmets. PA its not required at all over 21 so most wear nothing. I applaud your friends. I have no friends that ride so I am speaking of those I see on the roads riding on my scoot or driving the cage. It's not a knock on anyone because I believe in choice. However its a truthful observation.

This might be true, to a degree. But if insurance costs are a consideration, the costs of things for which "full race leathers and gear" can provide protection, such as roadrash or similar physical damage, are miniscule compared to the costs associated with a head injury. Both in the initial costs, and a possible lifetime of lost productivity or needed medical care.

Not nearly the level of safety full race leathers and gear would provide. Again, Problem is insurance still pays for your lack of logic.

          You were saying?
