Default Break In Observations/Questions. '07 1200R

I am finally beginning to feel like my bike is getting broken in at over 1400 miles. The 1000 mile mark was a marked improvement but 1300 to 1400 miles have really smoothed things out. The improvements in engine operation smoothness have been gradual but continual. Even the seat feels better. Has anyone else noticed that it takes a loooong time to break in these motors, felt like it took the whole 1000 miles+ to break in their bike? How do other brands compare to HD for length of break-in? I have owned/rode several other bikes but they were all well broken in so I have nothing to compare to.

I ride to work every day I can and ride often on my days off. I suspect my pace will slow down a bit in the coming months as I get settled in with the bike and the weather cools.

Right at 1k on mine and it does seem a little smoother now - mine's been in the shop the last 12 days due to a backordered low fuel indicator float..I will get it back next week I hope.

That's ok I have an 03 with 1800 miles. I just can't ride as much as I'd like to.

Yea ride it! Mine's a '05 too and i've had mine right at 19 months and i have 17,500 miles and all have been smooth. After break in a good seat and a little farther down the road maybe some progressive shocks and fork springs will do wonders too! Charlie i see you have a corbin classic solo seat how do you like it? I have one with a drivers backrest and a passinger pillion and i love the ride. Seat, handlebars, good aftermarket shocks will set up a bike to fit everybody, the way they come from the factory is close but when you tailor fit those three things man it makes all the differance in the world. The way i now have mine set up i can ride from fill-up to fill-up in comfort, not even thinking about my butt anymore with my corbin seat. Here's a pic.
