Rear footpeg mounting issues ('05 Sporty)
I purchased my bike recently with a solo seat on it. My girlfriend has been giving me crap because I put about 1.5k miles on it in the past 3 weeks and she has not had a chance to ride it. So, I bought the Badlander and some rear peg mounts/pegs.
Intro concluded.
I purchased my Sporty with custom pipes on it (fishtail). Check out the picture to see what I mean.
RIGHT SIDE:
So, as you can see, the pipes are sort of in the way. How easy is it to remove them so I can access the spot where I need to insert the bolt?
LEFT SIDE:
This is the one giving me the most trouble. I have to get the bottom bolt off with an 8mm Allen Wrench. I tried. I tried HARD to get that sucker off, but I am pretty sure it was machine tightened, and I, for the life of me, couldn't get th thing to budge off there. Do you have any suggestions?
I am asking here because I would prefer not to shell out another 200 bucks to the Harley dealership here. I am 19 and money saved is good money
Thanks much,
Nic

put a breaker bar on the ratchet for the left side...looks like fun on the right...if your rear peg will even clear the pipe, looks like you will have to loosen the pipe from the head. before removing the pipe, see if you can get an allen wrench in there. ive worked on them where the exhaust was close. i took the allen wrench and cut it down making it shorter and i could get it between the exhaust and peg bracket. lastly, dont forget to use blue locktite on the bolts!!! they will back out if you dont

I picked up a set of allen bits at harbor freight for less than $10.00 that fit on a 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar. That should help get you some more leverage.
As far as the pipes, they should not be too difficult to remove. Are you sure the pegs will miss the pipes once you get them installed?

I'll see what I can do about getting a breaker bar from my buddy. I know they are close, but the peg and the mount do fit in there with some room. I was worried about it at first, too. I also thought about sawing my allen wrench in half with a dremel tool and trying to get it in that way, too.
