Default Recommendations on bar makers

hey everyone!

So long story short, I hurt my neck pretty bad after hitting a pothole. Looked at my riding stance and I'm leaning a few degrees forward. I tried to rotate my stock bars to get a better straight up position but they just don't come back far enough.

I'm looking at getting a set of mini ape hangers. I like the look and they look like they'll be comfortable as well as have the ability to come back so that my back and neck are straight.

I'm thinking between 10 and 12 inch height. I think anything higher and my arms will be above my shoulders, which I don't want.

I don't want to by crappy bars though. I'd love some recommendations on company's to look at or avoid based on your personal preference.

any and all input is appreciated!

have you looked at getting some stock super glide bars? you could get some used ones on this site for prolly 20 bucks. And maybe the cables needed.

I have stock super glide bars on mine right now.. made a hell of a difference from the drags that were on their when I got it.. and I didn't have to get new cables.. I have some wide glide bars on the way they should be here today sometime.. I'll post some pictures when I get them on..

I honestly had not thought about going this route. Thanks for suggesting it! I think before i fully decide on what route i plan on I am going sit on my sporty and measure how much height, pullback and width will leave me comfortable.

Still leaves me wondering if there are any manufacturers i should stick with or avoid.

The Flanders Company is pretty hard to beat IMO. They have been making bars and risers in the USA for Harleys since the 1940's and have a great selection of sizes and bends and the quality is excellent. Most of their bars come in chrome or black powdercoat and dimpled for modern stock controls.

Here's a link to their distributor Sideroad Cycles (who are also a site sponsor). I have bought quite a few Flanders bars from them over the years and they have always treated me right... (The bars on my Panhead pictured below are the Flanders Low Cafe WC model)

Here's a very handy chart on their site of stock handlebar measurements for all Harley models 2002- 2010

XR1200 bars are wide and comfy, and they're BLACK.
