Default life gave me lemon, so what the recipe for lemonade?

Just got out of the Marines and moved to Texas with my N and the rest of my belongings in the back of a moving truck. When I got here I realized that something shifted and scuffed the @#$% out of my tank. So Im going to scuff it up some more, some parts down to the metal, give it a real rat rod look. My question is texas is way humid im noticing. Do i need to spray a clear coat on it afterward so the open metal sections dont rust? Thanks everyone.

Yes. And you'll only have a few minutes to beat the rust.

Why not just repaint it how you like?
I did a 1969 Triumph Daytona using sherwin williams automotive paint, cost me $200.00 for everything.

Depends on where in Texas. Houston and the coast is like a sauna. West Texas is as dry as can be. DFW is somewhere in between.

Last year I was pulling the paint off an tank I had laying around.. I noticed about an hour after pulling it off I started getting rust spots.. so yeah.. I would suggest something pretty quick.. then again you could do what I ended up doing.. take a rag and get it wet with evapo-rust and lightly coat the tank.. when your ready to do something with it wash it good with soap and water..

btw.. right out side of Beaumont, Tx and it gets pretty humid around here. don't worry you will never get use to it..

also welcome home..
where were you stationed?
