Default for those who have converted 883 to 1200

1) how much did it cost?

2) did you have any issues after the conversion that you didn't have before?

3) are you overall satisfied?

Thx in adv!

You know, I asked the same thing awhile back. Did not get 1 response. I don't think many have done it that hang here. I will be doing it this winter on my new 883R. Cost won't matter (upwards of $1600-1700 incl exhaust), only anticipate crazy performance gains and max YAHOO, and will be totally satisfied! I will certainly be posting price info, work progress, problems and results for sure. Dave

What I wanna know is why does the conversion cost less than just straight-up buying a 1200 in the first place? Makes no sense to me...

I would think because there is more to an XL Custom than just the 1200 engine...

Just a thought....

I would suggest checking out www.nrhsperformance.com, for roughly the same cost to go to a 1200 you can go up to a 1250. Check out previous threads as this is something that has been discussed before. There is no bore work involved in this conversion, everything is bolt on, so if you are mechanically inclined you could probably do the labor yourself and save yourself hundreds that the stealership will charge.

A 883/1200 bread and butter conversion is depenable just like stock and about how much does it cost? Well thats kinda like asking how much does a hot rod motor cost? When it comes to a 883/1200 conversion you could spend anywhere from $500 to $5000+, kinda like the old saying how fast do you want to go? But i think you might just want to know how much a bread and butter conversion cost? In that case it cost about $150 to bore your cylinders and about $250 or so for a set of good reverse dome pistons, that you can use with your 883 heads and a little more change for some gaskets. So for around $500 you can convert your bike if you do your own labor if not add about $400 to 500 bucks. Now if you want higher flowing heads, cams to make your higher flowing heads to breath better, high performace ignition, 2into1 header, ect well you can see where this leads to. The bread and butter conversion is alot of fun and they will scoot being geared lower than a stock 1200. Whichever way you go it's alot of fun! Go for it and good luck!
