yes, first is to back out the allen screw that holds the stem into the lever assembly. Then you can use the same allen tool to remove the stem, the top of the ball of the stem is cut for an allen..

When you put on the top triple tree you should not have to pull any wire, just temp remove the plastic clips under the handle bars and take out the turn signal wires.
LOCTITE blue will be your friend here. and I went ahead and used the extra bolts meant for the bottom tree mount and replaced the factory torx bolts.

If you need picts I can.

if you install the relocate kit on the bottom like I did...it makes for a great set of highway bars too

I didn't use loctite just torqued the bolts to 42 ft/lbs and ran it...and yes I throw me legs over them when I ride...then again I used to use my front rocker box as a footrest on long trips on my ironhead chop so my ideas aren't always the safest/sanest hahaha

you can leave the wires connected to the lights. To get the right light over and down you can loosen the headlight forward and fish the light and wire between the fork around the back of the headlight and over. no need to disconnect the wires from under the tank area. after that I just zip tied the extra wire to the left side of the frame.
