Default Painting the oil tank

I have been thinking of ordering the paint from HD to paint my black oil tank to match the rest of my 1999 Sportster. Well after a stupid mistake tonight and curling my front fender under, as long as I am going to need to paint a fender, I might as well paint the oil tank now.

Is there any reason, I was thinking heat, that I would not want to paint the oil tank, or a special precaution to take because of the heat?
