Default Rode trip tool needs road trip tools

Buddy and I are going to ride from SoCal to Montana in a week or so. I was wondering what tools folks would take with them for an extended trip. The wisdom found on here is always appreciated (even the sarcasm).

Looks like you have a travel bag.

Earplugs help a lot with fatigue when on a road trip. Stay hydrated, the heat will fool you while you're traveling.

Other than that, cell phone and credit card. A small general purpose tool kit is a good idea also.

Take a look at cruz tools(sp). They have several small sets of tools. Myself, I went to Wal-Mart & K-Mart and looked for their store sets of tools. They are usually enough to get you going if something small pops up. Anything bigger than a busted cable or loose bolt, a credit card and cell phone are your best tools.

+1 on the stay hydrated as the wind blowing on You causing loss of water . I carry a small leatherman tool, extra plugs, little plug wrench ( the kind that works with a screwdriver inserted into it ). Air gauge and a little flashlight. Along with My personal cell phone, debit card and Kahr PM9. I don't leave home without them.......WVleo

Here's a list of tools I put together, rolled up in a piece of canvas and stuffed in a leather tool bag hanging from the front of my frame.

¼” ratchet drive
¼” drive extension
Silver Allen - Headbolt covers
Mini flashlight
Tire gauge

4-in1 screwdriver
4mm Allen - Turn signals
3/16” Allen bit - Plate mount, Memphis Shade
Torx 15, ¼ “ drive - Timing cover
Torx 25, ¼” drive
Torx 27, ¼ “ drive - Handgrips
Torx 50 - shocks
1/2” combination wrench, short - Mirrors
7/16” combination wrench - License plate
5/8” Spark plug socket, ¼” drive - Spark plugs
7/16” socket

1/4” to 3/8” drive adapter
Long shaft T 30 socket, SK - Fork brace
10mm combination wrench - (+) battery terminal
7/16” combination wrench (cut short) - (-) battery ground

Since I have mags on the XL with tubeless tires I have a plug kit and small compressor.
